Our Ministries and Missions
Our church serves in a number of mission activities. Some are listed below with brief descriptions and links to web sites if available.
United Methodist Church - World Wide
Through our contributions to the United Methodist Church, we and other United Methodist Churches support many global ministries such as UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and The World Hunger/Poverty Program. Please visit www.umc.org to learn more about these and our other global ministries.
United Methodist Children's Home
The children's home located in Lake Monroe FL. provides a Christian environment for children unable to live at home due to abuse, abandonment, family breakdown, etc. For more information about this organization, please visit www.flumch.org.
Rock of Salvation Methodist Church, Las Parras, Cuba
Our sister church in Cuba receives both spiritual and financial support from our congregation. Members of the church make periodic visits to help with projects and deliver much needed worship materials.
Operation Christmas Child
Our church is proud to be a part of Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. For more information, please visit www.samaritanspurse.org.
The Source
This local organization provides meals, shelter, clothing and counseling to needy families and individuals. Members of our church help in this endeavor by preparing and serving meals and by donating food items and clothing.
Habitat for Humanity
This well know organization invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Members of our church have participated in the construction of a number of Habitat homes in the local area.
Christians Clothing Children
This initiative works to help the most at-risk children in Vero Beach by providing school
clothing and uniforms, hygiene kits, backpacks and basic school supplies. The team shops
for specific children with whom they have been provided specific sizes and needs. We all
pray for each child by name. We provide a back-to-school party with dinner for the families and give them their supplies at this party.
Samaritan Soup Bowl
Christ by the Sea participates with this fundraiser each November. This initiative helps
to feed the homeless and hungry in Vero Beach. The soups are contributed by local
restaurants and everyone knows that by their participation they are helping to make
a difference in our community. We also have the VNA (Visiting Nurse Association)
come to our church that same day to provide flu shorts and pneumonia shots to the
community. Clients who present a Medicare of Health First Medicare HMO card will
have Medicare billed on their behalf.
