Miguel Bonachea is a native from Santa Clara, Cuba. He studied at the National School of Music and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana. As a classical guitarist he has played in a variety of venues such as the International Festival of Music in Brno, Czech Republic; Carrefour Mondial de Guitare, Martinique; International Festival of Contemporary Classical Music of Lima, Peru; International Guitar Festival of Quito, Ecuador; and many others. He has also been guest soloist of symphonic and chamber orchestras in different countries.
In the late 1980’s he was co-founder of the National Studio of Electro-acoustic Music under Maestro Juan Blanco in Havana and featured as a guest artist at the Studio of Electro-acoustic Researches of Brussels, Belgium, under Leo Kupper.
Miguel moved to Colombia in 1992. There he tenured as Dean of the Conservatory of Music at the Institute of Fine Arts in Cali until 2004; and then, as Head of the Area of Guitar at the University EAFIT in Medellin until 2009. Before moving to U.S.A. by the end of 2010, he taught at the Foundation University “Juan N. Corpas” in Bogota.
Currently, Miguel is attending the Educator Preparation Institute at Miami Dade College and expects to earn his certification as a Music Teacher by May 2013.
The day after they moved to Vero Beach in November 2012, Miguel and his wife, Genia, got acquainted with Christ by the Sea, U.M.C. and they became beguiled by its charming parishioners, the music led by Dr. Marcos D. Flores, and Pastor Cliff’s messages.
